Meteors up to #2, Vipers make first appearance in GOHL Power Rankings

1.  Cambridge Redhawks (44-5-0-0)
Last weekW 5-4 (SO) at Brantford, W 4-1 vs Ayr
Reid Gammage scored twice — including his franchise record 24th career power play goal — and added an assist, and Parker Smith (Sudbury Wolves, 2025) scored the only goal in the shootout against the Centennials as the Redhawks earned their second straight shootout win.  In their final home game of the season, the Redhawks defeated the Centennials for their 9th straight win and their 23rd home win (tied for 4th most in GOHL history).  They clinched the Tony Passero Memorial Award as Eastern Conference regular season champs (the franchise’s first since 2011 as the Guelph Hurricanes), and clinched the franchise’s first-ever Commissioner’s Cup as the top overall team in the GOHL.

2.  Fort Erie Meteors (38-8-2-0)
Last weekW 13-2 at Welland, W 1-0 at Port Colborne, L 2-5 vs #8 Pelham, W 9-3 at #8 Pelham
Gage Brandon (Flint Firebirds, 2024) notched his second hat trick of the season — both against Welland — as the Meteors set a franchise record for goals in a game in the win over the Canadians.   With the win in Port Colborne, the Meteors set franchise records for wins and points in a season.  Rafael Tremblay made 23 saves for his second shutout in his last four starts in the Meteors’ second 1-0 win over the Sailors in 11 days.  The Meteors’ 8-game win streak was ended by the Panthers, who have been responsible for 4 of Fort Erie’s 10 losses this season.  The next day, Fort Erie exacted revenge on the Panthers as Tate Donald recorded his second hat trick in eight days in the lopsided win.

3.  St. Catharines Falcons (40-6-2-0)
Last week: L 3-4 at Ayr, W 3-0 vs Hamilton
The Falcons entered their last away game of the season with a season-long away point streak of 24 games (22-0-2-0) and a chance to become just the second team to earn points in every away game of a season (Caledonia, 2014-15, 23-0-2).  They were denied that chance by the Centennials who scored three third period goals in the upset win, also snapping the Falcons’ 11-game winning streak.  In the win over the Kilty B’s Sam Lockyer extended his point streak to 10 games with a goal and Jacob Ceranic made 27 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Falcons earned their first 40-win season since 2013-14.

4.  Chatham Maroons (34-8-2-3)
Last weekW 5-3 vs Waterloo
Trevor Zanutto recorded his second hat trick of the season — including his league-leading 35th goal — to lead the Maroons to their 8th straight win.  Chatham moved back into a tie with the Sugar Kings for first place in the Western Conference standings setting up Wednesday’s first-place showdown in Elmira.

5.  Elmira Sugar Kings (35-9-2-1)
Last week: W 4-2 at St. Thomas, W 9-2 at Sarnia, W 5-4 (SO) vs #7 London
With both of Elmira’s rostered goalies sidelined, three AP call-up’s each earned their first career GOHL wins to help the Sugar Kings keep their first-place hopes alive.  Finn Pettapiece made 35 saves against the Stars and Logan MacMillan stopped 17 of 19 shots faced against the Legionnaires.  Ryan Cornfield recorded his second hat trick of the season in the win over Sarnia.  Against the Nationals, Elmira rallied from a 3-0 deficit to force a shootout where Brendan Gerber scored the winner.  AP call-up Connor Harmon — in his first career GOHL appearance — made 29 saves as the Sugar Kings moved into a tie with Chatham for first place in the Western Conference standings heading into Wednesday’s showdown against the Maroons.  The Sugar Kings are now 10-2-2-1 in one-goal games this season.

6.  St. Marys Lincolns (35-11-2-0)
Last weekL 1-4 at #10 LaSalle, W 3-1 vs #9 Stratford, W 5-3 vs Listowel
In LaSalle, the Lincolns suffered their second straight loss as the Vipers won the season series over St. Marys 3-1.  The Lincolns claimed their own 3-1 season series win with the victory over the Warriors in front of a season-high crowd of 1255 at the Pyramid R.C., improving their record against ranked opponents to 12-5-1-0.  AP callup Hudsyn Chaput‘s first career GOHL goal midway thru the third period was the game winner against the Cylcones.

7.  London Nationals (32-14-1-0)
Last weekW 9-2 vs Komoka, L 2-6 at Komoka, L 4-5 (SO) at Elmira
Austen Pomerleau had 3 assists as the Nationals extended their home winning streak to six in the first of two straight games against the Kings.  In the return match-up in Komoka, the Kings exacted revenge, snapping London’s 5-game winning streak.  The Nationals scored the first three goals of the game against the Sugar Kings, but had to settle for a single point in the shootout loss.  London will face Stratford in the first round of the playoffs, with the two clubs tied in the battle for home-ice advantage in the series.

8.  Pelham Panthers (31-17-0-1)
Last week: L 1-3 at Hamilton, W 5-2 at #2 Fort Erie, L 9-3 vs #2 Fort Erie
The Panthers had their 9-game away point streak snapped with the loss in Hamilton — their first defeat in five meetings with the Kilty B’s this season.  They responded in style with an impressive away win in Fort Erie thanks in part to a 39 save performance from Liam Edgcumbe.  In the rematch, the Meteors humbled the Panthers who allowed 9 goals in a home game for the first time since October of 2022.

9.  Stratford Warriors (30-12-4-2)
Last week: L 0-1 (OT) vs Strathroy, L 1-3 at #6 St. Marys, L 2-4 at Strathroy
Stratford’s 8-game point streak came to an end with the home loss to the Rockets.  It was the Warriors’ first shutout defeat at the Allman since October of 2024 when they lost 3-0 to … the Rockets.  The Warriors dropped the season series 1-3 to the Lincolns with the loss in St. Marys.  With the second loss to the Rockets in five days, the Warriors have now lost three in a row for the first time since December of 2023.  Stratford are now tied with London for 4th place in the Western Conference standings, with the two clubs confirmed as opponents in the first round of the playoffs.

10.  LaSalle Vipers (24-21-3-0)
Last weekW 4-1 vs #6 St. Marys, W 7-2 vs Strathroy
Winners of six of their last eight, the Vipers make their first appearance of the season in the Power Rankings.  Their win over St. Marys was the second of the month over the Lincolns.  Max Brocklehurst (Windsor Spitfires, 2024) had his second 4-point game of the season in the win over the Rockets as the two clubs are tied in the battle for 6th place in the Western Conference standings.
