#1 Cambridge Redhawks 10
Hamilton Kilty B’s 1

Sam Savery scored his first career hat trick and added an assist and Parker Smith (Sudbury Wolves, 2025) scored twice as the Redhawks rebounded from Wednesday’s loss in Fort Erie with a convincing win over the Kilty B’s in front of a School Day crowd of 833 at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.

The game’s outcome was determined early as the Redhawks scored five goals within a span of 8:14 in the first period.

Reid Gammage — returning to the lineup after a 1-game suspension — opened the scoring for the Redhawks (29-2-0-0) with his league-leading 23rd goal 4:36 into the game.  77 seconds later, Kalyn McQueen (Soo Greyhounds, 2024) made it 2-0 with his 5th goal.  Savery’s first two goals and Smith’s first gave the Redhawks a 5-0 lead before Tyler MacDougall (2) scored the lone goal for the Kilty B’s (8-19-3-0) late in the opening frame.

Brendan George (4), Tyler Graham (2) and Luke Saramak (10) added goals for the Redhawks, before Savery scored his third late in the game.  Saramak added 3 assists and Smith had two helpers, giving each player their first career 4-point games.

Savery now leads all GOHL rookies with 18 goals.

The Redhawks — who were held to a season-low one goal in Fort Erie a day earlier — scored 10 or more goals in a game for the 5th time this season.  They have now won 7 straight head-to-head against the Kilty B’s, including two wins this season.  The two clubs will face each other three times over the span of 9 days in February.

Redhawks rookie netminder Aidan Hill (Ottawa 67’s, 2023) made a season-high 39 saves to improve his record to a perfect 13-0.  His 13 wins and his 1.99 GAA both lead all GOHL rookie goalies.

Cambridge widened their lead atop the Eastern Conference standings to 8 points ahead of the 2nd-place St. Catharines Falcons who have played 3 fewer games.  Cambridge hosts the Brantford Titans on Saturday in their last game before the holiday break.  Looming on the schedule horizon is a showdown with the Falcons on January 3, the first of three meetings in three weeks.

The Kilty B’s have now lost 4 straight and remain tied with Caledonia for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference standings.  It doesn’t get any easier as they face the Falcons on Friday in their last game before the holiday break.
