Spotlight Preview: Canadians at Sailors

GOHL Spotlight Game

Friday, December 5
Welland Canadians
Port Colborne Sailors

These Eastern Conference rivals meet for the second time this season, the first a 4-2 win by the Sailors in Welland on Nov.9 where Cole Hodgson scored his only 2 goals of the season for Port Colborne.

The Canadians travel to the Vale Centre in search of their first road win of the season.  It has been over a year since their last regulation road win — a 4-3 victory in Caledonia on Nov.30, 2024.

Rookies Will Fyfe (Niagara IceDogs, 2025) and Yegor Staiko lead the Canadians with 10 goals each.

The Sailors are jockeying for position in the Eastern Conference standings.  They currently sit 5th, two points ahead of the Ayr Centennials, and a win over Welland would move them into a tie with 4th place Pelham with the Sailors having played 3 fewer games than the Panthers.

Sailors leading scorer PJ Alexander started the season with just 4 points in his first 8 games.  He has scored 23 points — including 8 multi-point games — in the 13 games since, the 8th highest total in the GOHL over that span .
