#4 Chatham Maroons
Sarnia Legionnaires
The defending Sutherland Cup champion Maroons travel to Sarnia to face the Legionnaires in the back end of a home-and-home pair of meetings, with Chatham winning 8-1 at home on Sunday.
The two tradition-rich franchises have been rivals since the early 1950’s when the Sarnia Sailors and Chatham Monarchs faced each other in the Western League. Since 1979 they have won a combined 16 Western League/Conference titles (CHA: 10, SAR: 5), with five of those involving head-to-head match-ups in the finals, including 4 straight finals meetings between 1987-90.
This will be the 100th meeting between the two GOHL clubs since 2007, with the Maroons having a 60-32-7 record in the previous 99.
The Maroons are looking to improve on their perfect 5-0 away record and for their 4th straight win overall which would give them sole possession of first place in the Western Conference, while the Legionnaires are hoping to break into the win column for the first time this season.
