As the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) 2026-27 season gets underway this weekend, its 20 team rosters contain a total of 78 GOHL alumni, representing over 15% of active OHL players.
The London Knights roster features 11 GOHL alumni — the most of any OHL team. The defending Memorial Cup champion Kitchener Rangers have eight, followed by the Guelph Storm (7), Windsor Spitfires (6) and Sarnia Sting (6).
There are 38 alumni who played for GOHL teams in 2025-26, including four from the Chatham Maroons and LaSalle Vipers, and three from the Sutherland Cup champion Cambridge Redhawks.
10 former GOHL goalies are now in the OHL, including all three rostered netminders for the Flint Firebirds.
These numbers reinforce the viability and effectiveness of the GOHL as the official development league of the OHL.
