GOHL hires Brad Kovachik as Referee-in-Chief

GOHL Commissioner Craig Spada announced today that Brad Kovachik has been hired as the league’s first-ever Referee-in-Chief.

Brad brings a wealth of experience having officiated over 1900 regular season games and 200 playoff games since he began his career as an NHL linesman in 1996, after three seasons as a linesman in the OHL.

The Woodstock native has officiated in five Stanley Cup Finals and also worked at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

“The GOHL is growing in many ways and we welcome Brad.  His wealth of knowledge and experience from a decorated NHL career brings much in credibility.  The GOHL continues work to enhance our on-ice product for the players and fans alike,” said Commissioner Spada.

In fulfilling his key responsibilities in overseeing the league’s officiating department, Brad will act as the league’s first point of contact for all teams regarding officiating inquiries, updates, rules, and discipline.
