League Announcement

The Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL) is pleased to announce that Stoney Creek will join the league as a new franchise location.  This development reflects the league’s continued commitment to strengthening its geographic alignment and creating the best possible competitive structure for its teams and players.

As part of this transition, the Caledon franchise will no longer operate within the GOHL, allowing the league to introduce Stoney Creek into the Eastern Conference.  This change provides a strong regional fit and further enhances conference balance moving forward.

The team will operate under the name the Stoney Creek Generals.  The organization will be launching a community logo design contest, inviting local residents, students, and fans to submit ideas for the official team logo.  Further details regarding the contest will be announced in the near future.

The addition of Stoney Creek represents an exciting step in the continued growth and evolution of the league.

“We are very excited to welcome Stoney Creek as a new franchise location within our league,” said GOHL Commissioner Craig Spada. “This move strengthens our Eastern Conference and aligns very well geographically with the other teams in the conference.  The interest and enthusiasm surrounding this opportunity has been extremely positive, and we look forward to seeing the Stoney Creek organization become an important part of our league moving forward.”

“I’m extremely happy to see this move come together and to bring our organization to Stoney Creek,” said owner Errol McDonald. “This is an exciting opportunity for us to get underway in a community with a strong passion for hockey. The GOHL has truly put itself on the map in the development world, and to be part of a league that is so committed to developing young players is something I am very proud of. We’re looking forward to building something special in Stoney Creek and getting started.”

The GOHL continues to strengthen its role as a premier development league and the official development league of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), providing young players with a clear pathway to the next level of the game.

The GOHL remains focused on delivering a premier development environment for players while supporting strong, community-based franchises across Ontario.

Further details regarding the Stoney Creek Generals organization, including information on the logo contest and preparations for the upcoming season, will be shared in the coming weeks.
