Eastern Conference teams claim top 3 spots in GOHL Power Rankings

1.  Cambridge Redhawks (40-5-0-0)
Last weekW 5-2 at Ayr, W 4-2 vs Hamilton
Brandon Balcar made 20 saves for his 4th straight win and franchise record 21st win of the season for the Redhawks, who improved to 4-0 against the Centennials this season.  Cameron Fries had an assist to extend his point streak to 12 games.  Kaylan Holding‘s first career GOHL goal was the game winner and Reid Gammage scored his franchise record 66th career goal as the Redhawks claimed their 5th straight win and third over Hamilton in nine days.  Jake Skuta scored an empty-netter — his first goal since October 11.

2.  St. Catharines Falcons (36-5-2-0)
Last week: W 4-2 vs Listowel, W 3-1 at St. Thomas, W 7-1 at Welland
Sam Lockyer scored two power play goals to lead the Falcons to their first win in three all-time meetings with the Cyclones.  Recent signee Samuel Mudie scored his first goal as a Falcon as St. Catharines improved to 3-0 all-time against the Stars.  With 17 two-goal games to his credit, Treyson Dewar finally recorded his first career hat trick in the victory over the Canadians.  The Falcons extended their winning streak to 8 games, during which they have allowed a total of 9 goals.

3.  Fort Erie Meteors (32-7-2-0)
Last weekW 8-0 at Caledon, W 5-2 vs Welland
Danny Adamo extended his point streak to 15 games (tied for longest in the GOHL this season) with a career high 5 points (1G, 4A) and Ryan Schultz made 17 saves for his third shutout of the season to lead the Meteors to the win over the Bombers.  Sam Tonelli scored his 24th and 25th goals of the season in the win over the Canadians.  Adamo — who had goals in each of his last 7 home games — was held off the score sheet.

4.  Chatham Maroons (30-8-2-3)
Last week: W 4-3 vs Listowel
Against the Cyclones, Carter Chadwick scored his league-leading 13th power play goal to lead the Maroons to their 4th straight win and sole possession of first place in a very tight 3-way battle for top spot in the Western Conference standings.

5.  Elmira Sugar Kings (30-8-2-1)
Last weekL 2-4 at #6 St. Marys, L 5-2 vs #7 Stratford
The Sugar Kings rallied from an early 2-0 deficit against the Lincolns and appeared to be heading to overtime before surrendering the game winning goal with 15 seconds left in the third, ending Elmira’s 6-game point streak.  In their third straight game against ranked opponents, the Sugar Kings were outshot by the Warriors 44-18, matching their worst home loss of the season and missing a chance to claim a share of first place in the Western Conference standings.

6.  St. Marys Lincolns (31-9-2-0)
Last weekL 5-6 at #8 London, W 4-2 vs #5 Elmira
The league’s top penalty killing unit allowed three power play goals against the Nationals as the Lincolns suffered their third straight loss for the first time since the end of the 2021-22 season.  The Lincolns responded with a big win over the Sugar Kings.  After St. Marys surrendered a two-goal lead, Luke McMillan scored the game winner (video) with 15 seconds left in the third.  The Lincolns improved to 11-5-1 against ranked opponents.

7.  Stratford Warriors (27-10-3-2)
Last week: W 10-2 vs Sarnia, W 5-2 at #5 Elmira
McQuen HayLock had a goal and three assists for a season-high 4-point game in the Warriors’ win over the Legionnaires.    Stratford outshot the Sugar Kings 44-18, improving their record against ranked opponents to 8-9-2-0 (including 2-2 vs. Elmira).   The Warriors ended the week tied with London for 4th-place in the Western Conference standings with one game in hand.

8.  London Nationals (29-13-1-0)
Last weekW 6-5 vs #6 St. Marys, W 6-4 at Sarnia
The Nationals scored three power play goals against the league’s top-ranked PK in the win over the Lincolns.  London improved their record against ranked opponents to 10-9, and are now 9-2-1-0 in one-goal games.  London again scored six goals and again potted three with the man advantage in the hard-fought win over the last-place Legionnaires.

9.  Pelham Panthers (27-15-0-1)
Last week: L 0-4 vs #10 Port Colborne
The Panthers suffered their third shutout loss at home this season.  Their lead over the 5th place Sailors is down to two points in the Eastern Conference standings.  The two clubs — who have split four previous meetings — will meet Friday for a fifth time and final time this season.

10.  Port Colborne Sailors (25-13-3-0)
Last week: W 3-2 (OT) at Hamilton, W 4-0 at #9 Pelham
Tristen Aben scored his second goal of the game at 2:14 of overtime (video) to give the Sailors their 4th win in four meetings with the Kilty B’s.  In the Sailors’ first of 5 games in 8 days, Stephen Amaro made 28 saves against the Panthers for his first career GOHL shutout.  With the win, the Sailors pulled to within two points of Pelham in the battle for 4th place in the Eastern Conference standings with the two clubs set for a rematch on Friday — one of three games against ranked opponents next week.
