Brechin Johnston scored the eventual game winner late in the second period and Cooper Marsh (W, 2-8-0) made 43 saves — including 18 in the 3rd period — as the Canadians (2-12-2-0) claimed their second win of the season, upsetting the Corvairs (9-5-0-0) in front of 305 spectators at the Welland Arena.
Brock Houser (2), Yegor Staiko (6) and Luca Nardilli (2) also scored for the Canadians who avenged an 8-3 loss in Caledonia on Saturday and earned a home win against the Corvairs for the first time since December of 2022.
Mason Wharton scored twice (3) and Ethan Royer (2) added a goal for the Corvairs who suffered their third 1-goal loss in their last 4 games and missed a chance to claim sole possession of third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
