24 GOHL rosters include 193 OHL Draft Picks
With the 20th GOHL season about to start, the 2026-27 Opening Day rosters for all 24 teams have been posted.
Of the 525 players, 242 (47%) are rookies (over 10 per team), with the new Woodstock Navy Vets franchise leading with 18, followed by the Brantford Titans and Stoney Creek Generals with 15 each.
There are 193 players (36%) who have been drafted by Ontario Hockey League teams, including 103 from the 2026 OHL Priority Draft. The Elmira Sugar Kings roster features 16 OHL picks, while 13 are on the roster of the the defending Sutherland Cup champion Cambridge Redhawks.
Of the 474 Canadian players, 466 players are from Ontario while eight are from other provinces, including four from Quebec, two from Nova Scotia and two from Alberta.
The GOHL has an international flavour with players from six other countries, including 36 American-born players from 16 states. Michigan is the most-represented state with 12 players, followed by 4 from the state of New York and 3 from California. Other states include Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico.
Other countries represented include Russia (8), Latvia (2), Austria (1), Norway (1), Belarus (1), Germany (1), and United Kingdom (1).
The 2026-27 regular season schedule gets underway tonight when the Ayr Centennials host the Pelham Panthers. Game time is 7:00pm at the North Dumfries Community Centre.
23 of the 24 teams will open their respective 50-game seasons during the 21 games scheduled for the opening weekend of Sep. 10-13. The Sarnia Legionnaires open their season with a visit to LaSalle on Wednesday, Sep.16.
