Spotlight Preview: Cyclones at Warriors

GOHL Spotlight Game
powered by Collins Clothiers

Sunday, December 14
Listowel Cyclones at
#5 Stratford Warriors

This will be the second of four meetings this season between these two Western Conference teams.  Grady Murphy scored twice and Gage Hurst (Erie Otters, 2025) made 21 saves for his first career GOHL shutout in a 4-0 win in Stratford on Oct.10.

The Cyclones are coming off Friday’s 6-4 loss to Elmira.  In that game, Listowel fought back from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game, only for the Sugar Kings to win it late in the third period.

Listowel are currently in 10th place, 5 points back of the 9th-place LaSalle Vipers and 7 points behind the 8th-place Strathroy Rockets in the battle for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

After a 9-game win streak, the Warriors have lost two straight, the latest being Friday’s 5-1 loss to London — their worst loss of the season and first regulation loss at home.  The Warriors were a combined 0 for 9 on the power play in the two losses.

Warriors rookie forward Max Wildfong (Saginaw Spirit, 2025) has goals in each of his last 6 games and his 14 goals on the season are tied for 3rd most among all GOHL rookies.

Stratford enters the game 5th in the Western Conference standings, five points back of the 4th place Nationals with five games in hand.
