Nicholas Gilby (Owen Sound Attack, 2024) scored with 52 seconds left in the third period to snap a 3-3 tie and lift the Sailors (13-7-2-0) to the win.
Goals from Luke Hall (4) and PJ Alexander (11) gave Port Colborne a 2-0 lead before the Canadians roared back to go ahead 3-2 over a span of six minutes late in the second period on goals from Justin Flora (8), Yegor Staiko (11) and Brock Houser (3) .
The Sailors tied the game on Hudson Wozney‘s 6th goal of the season late in the second, setting up Gilby’s late game heroics. Wozney added an empty-netter to seal Port Colborne’s second win in as many meetings against the Canadians this season.
With the victory, the Sailors extended their point streak to 4 games (3-0-1-0) and moved into a tie with Pelham for 4th in the Eastern Conference standings, with Port Colborne having played 3 fewer games than the Panthers.
Alexander had an assist for his 4th straight 2-point game and 9th multi-point effort in his last 14 appearances.
Staiko added 2 assists for a season-high 3-point game for the Canadians (3-21-2-0), who remain without a point on the road this season (0-14-0-0).
